I'm scheduled to have surgery tomorrow (Tuesday, March 22, 2011) with Dr. Elist for the PE procedure for length and width. My wife will be coming with me I wouldn't be able to do this on my own. She's been really supportive of me and what ever decision I came to. We flew in today at 7pm. We're staying at the Wilshire Crest Hotel, complements of Dr. Elist. My consultation with Dr. Elist is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:30am followed by my surgery at noon. I'm nervous but feeling good, I'm such a chicken at doctor's offices so we'll see how this plays out it should be interesting! We're going to bed now, it's a little after midnight and I don't think I'll be able to sleep because my nerves just kicked in! Wow this is really going to happen, reality is kind of scary! I've never been through surgery before, wish me luck! By the way, the bed sucks. Good night!

I know you've posted recently in a separate thread, but mind sharing if you have used the wrong dates by mistake or if you have already undergone the procedure? Please let us know, thanks.

My Journey -- Day of Surgery (Please note that my surgery was back on March 22, I'm just posting my journal of day to day events... sorry for the earlier confusion.) Although the bed sucked and I didn't fall asleep til sometime after 1:30am I woke up feeling pretty good. I took an antibiotic as directed prior to surgery, then I took my shower, making sure I scrubbed the pubic area really well with Betadyne. My wife and I decided to walk to the doctor's office seen as it was nice out and it wasn't too far away. When we went inside the building we had to sign in with a nice gentleman on the main level, then go up to the seventh floor to Dr. Elist's office. Sylvia checked me in and she had me sign a few forms and I'd say it was about a 10min wait to be called back. Dr. Elist was seeing another guy in the next room so it was about another 15min before he came in. My first impression of Dr. Elist was a pleasant one. He was in a good mood, smiled a lot, seemed very willing to answer any questions my wife or I had, and he did a very thorough job of explaining everything. He showed us the implant and let us feel it, then explained how it would be placed in the body and how it works. I was very pleased with how the implant felt, it's light weight it has no edges or seems and it's very soft and smooth. The size he decided on was the large and that was based off of my pre op size and how much my skin stretches. He took my flaccid measurements and a few pics and told me that I should expect to gain 1 1/2" - 2" in girth and the same for length following the surgery. (I measured 3" x 3" flaccid) The appointment lasted about 30min, then Dr. Elist said that he'd meet us over at the surgery center at noon. We walked over to the surgery center which was a few blocks from the office and arrived there around noon. I checked in and in about 20min I was taken to a room to wait for the surgery room to be prepped and the staff to be all ready, Dr. Elist wasn't there yet either. He arrived around 1:30pm and I was taken back for surgery about 2pm... let me tell you, that was a lot of down time and a lot of time for second thoughts and a lot of hesitation. I was defiantly nervous now, and before I know it I was under. It went something like, "hi Dr. Elist... ok, 100, 99, 98,...." The pic I'm posting is my pre op pic I took at the hotel just before leaving for the surgery. (I'm going to post my post op either later today or early tomorrow... thanks! Ben)

benThere is a picture size limit, maybe you need to reduce the size/resolution of the image with a photo editor (or free online ones like www.picresize.com/) and try attaching again.

I was out of surgery around 4pm and it took a good hour for the anesthesia to ware off enough for me to get up and use the bathroom. I don't remember this, but my wife told me the first thing I said was I hurt. The nurse gave me pain medication through my I.V. and the first thing I actually remember is her helping me get dressed. My wife said I didn't recognize her when I first came to I was so loopy. The nurse showed both of us how to empty and activate the drainage tube and she said to document the output every 6-8 hours. I remember standing up to get into the wheelchair and I felt like I was going to be sick. They gave me a basin and told me to take long deep breaths. A gentleman named Aaron from the hotel was on his way to pick us up so we went outside and waited... and waited... and waited. A staff member from the surgical center was waiting with us so I told him I'd give him $100 if he'd drive us back to the hotel... I would have done ANYTHING to get back to the hotel so I could lay down and sleep! After waiting a good 15min outside in the cold he finally showed up. The ride back to the hotel was very uncomfortable I could feel every bump break and turn the entire way. My wife needed to help me out of the car and down the l-o-n-g hallway to the room, it was very awkward walking. I took all my clothes off and laid on the bed with tons of pillows around me. I put one under each knee, this helps take some pressure off the suture area. I wasn't in any pain, but at around 8pm I took a pain pill just because I didn't want to wake up in a ton of pain. I was finally able to pee around this time too and let me tell you, it stings! Besides that, it would feel like I was about to pee then it would just stop, this happened for 20min or so before I actually peed. Beware, you will be spraying in several different directions so I suggest doing what I did and use the little plastic garbage can! I took the bag out and just washed it out each time. I also had to use a little hand towel otherwise I'd get pee on me too! My wife went and got me a huge chef salad with a side of olive oil from this one restaurant on the corner by Wilshire Blvd. It was just over $7 and it filled me up twice so I think that's a great deal especially in Beverly Hills. I ate some, watched a few episodes of Law & Order, took my evening antibiotic, and reflected on the day with my wife. I was feeling really good about everything and how it all went when I noticed the head of my penis was cold and a little blueish! I had no idea if I should loosen the wrap or what so I called Dr. Elist and left a message. He got back to me within 5min and said that this is common and it's due mostly to the drainage tube pushing against a vein. He said that it wasn't doing any damage and that it wouldn't feel like that as soon as the tube was out. Besides that little scare everything else was going well. I tried to sleep but I would wake up every 60-90min trying to get comfortable, like I said the bed sucks! I made sure I took a pain pill every 4hrs like clock work, the last thing I wanted was to wake up in pain. We went to bed around midnight, me sleeping in the bed and my wife sleeping on a pull out cot. I was taking NO chances of getting bumped so this will be our sleeping arrangement for the next ?? days! Here's my first post op pic... beautiful I know!

Day After Surgery
I set my alarm on my cell to go off every 4hrs so I could take a pain pill, like I said, there's no way I was gonna wake up in pain if I didn't need to. I was waking up a bunch of times to get a drink of water or use the bathroom, my sleep was poor to say the least. My wife and I woke up around 8am and went down to the breakfast area to grab a bite to eat before my appointment. Getting dressed was a chore, my wife had to help me get my boxers socks and pants on, I couldn't bend at all. Finding a discrete place to put the drainage tube and ball was a channange, the tube always wanted to stick out and my shirt barely covered it. My wife was always making sure none of the tube or ball was showing, this was a pain in the ass at times because I got to the point where I just didn't care anymore if it was showing. I'd stand up and it would come out, I would walk and it would work its way out, I would stretch and it would show... UHH! Anyway, we took a cab to the office and paid something like $6, not too bad. We had to wait like 20 min before we saw Dr. Elist, it seemed like forever. He talked to me about my cold penis incident the prevous night and reassured me again that this was normal. I was supposed to just leave it alone, don't mess with the wrap and keep it dry and clean. He told me that I had a lot of fluid in the drainage ball and I should try to stay still more, not to walk around much and to jut rest. He said that if it didn't decrease considerably in two days he wouldn't be able to remove it and that I'd have to take it out myself at home. I was trying to avoid this at all costs because I think I'd faint if I had to do that myself! Next was the fun part, I got to get my tube flushed! Yes, the part we all love... and let me tell you that these guys aren't exaggerating when they say it hurts! I know he uses saline then peroxide then water and I think he does this a couple of times. The good part is it only burns really bad for about 20 sec. If that sounds like fun then you'll love this, he grabs your penis and bends it left, right, up, and down, this is uncomfortable because the implant is still new and doesn't bend easily. The next part my wife explained to me weeks later, I didn't want to know details for quite some time afterwords. She said that when Dr. Elist unwrapped my penis it looked in pretty rough shape. The implant protruded over the glans quite a bit, the right side was really swollen and part of the implant was bulging the skin out by the tip. I guess my skin color was a bit darker on the shaft too. I didn't look, I wasn't ready for that yet. Dr. Elist said that everything will shape well over time, I just needed to keep it wrapped to let the capsule form around the implant. He told me everything was looking very good, he was impressed. He put new gauze wrap on and a new gauze pad over my stitches. He reminded me to eat lots of olive oil and to drink plenty of water, this would prevent constipation. We took a cab back to the hotel, it was still awkward and a bit painful to get out of the car walk up the couple steps and down the hallway to the room. The first thing I did when I got to the room was take off my clothes and get comfy with all the pillows on the bed, time to watch some Law and Order... again! One problem I had a lot was I always had to pee, but it's not like I just had the feeling, each time I peed a lot. This was always inconvenient because of my new talent of being able to pee in multipul directions at the same time. Grab the towel, get the little bucket, it seemed like it was every 45min or so it was nuts. My wife went and got me that awesome chef salad again from Trimana's, this time with two little cups of olive oil for good luck! I felt really tired so I decided to go to bed early, around 8pm. Before going to sleep my wife and I talked about everything up to that point and we both agreed that there were a lot of unknowns. Dr. Elist gives you all the information you could ever need, as long as you ask the right questions! We got out a note pad and wrote down 1,000 questions to ask him in the morning, we wanted to make sure we didn't forget anything. I took another antobiotic, my pain pill, and spent a good hour tosing and turning trying to get comfortable before I finally fell asleep. Wow, what a day!
