I honestly have been talking to Dan Salas for over 3 months and haven't had that impression of him at all... I am a native New Yorker and a therapist.. I've done my assessment and I have not experienced that type of rapport or get the feeling I am being taken advantage of... Maybe I am naive ... But I seriously doubt it... In addition, I haven't heard any talks or service fee for his service as of yet. The scope of our conversation is my own indecisiveness about which doctor to choose, additional research on techniques and importantly the long term effects post op( due to the distance of where I live).b4 I put myself thru this emotional life changing experience, I want to make sure I don't make the wrong choice or worse get another surgery... Honestly(no b/s) Dan has been helping me through this. I hope you guys believe me.... Really have no reason to lie... We all want or have got assistant with things in our life... Why not have someone who has gone thru and understand be your right hand man... It's no different from a person needing assistance in care.. Dan has made a living with this... This is True. But y knock the guy for doing something that he is passionate about.... Now I think I said enough and I am sure I am going to get a lot of arguments and debate.... But this is what I have encountered thus far and I hope it gives you an idea of what I am about as well. Please excuse my grammar as I am at wrk on my phone! I think we all got a bit carried away with the Dan Salas issue a few weeks ago. I even called him a pimp which I shouldn't have and I'll apologise via PM. But I think his passion is the problem. His desire to be a surgical guru seems to cloud his judgement. I don't know the guy, but if you look at his track record, then it's hard to argue against that, unless he is just a bad person, which by all accounts he isn't. Be honest, did he really know anything about PMMA until he started reading this forum? And therefore should he have been offering the procedure through phallocare given that guys like yourself value his opinion? Isn't it fair to say he's simply run out of Dr's to work with in the US after numerous problems? It really didn't take much research on behalf to discover that Dr Knight had a very poor reputation as a plastic surgeon, yet Dan was prepared to work with him. They worked together for a very short time, but it was long enough to seriously screw at least one guy up and Ken Beaton spoke of other complications he'd heard of. I get the impression that Dan is a genuinely helpful and passionate guy, but his desire to make a living out of PE surgery often over rides rational thinking. In all honesty what can he really know about Dr Comacho's track record? I think Dan probably has good intentions, but he also has a responsibility to ensure that he can be really sure that the surgeon and procedures he is advocating are in the best interest of his patients/clients. I don't think anyone could argue that has been the case in the past and we know for sure he can't say that concerning PMMA.

Didn't some write here on the forum that Wade and/or Dr. C is not working together? Do you guys think that with Dr. C working with Dan Salas helps or hurts Dr. C's credibility?

You sure Dan didn't get them from this board or someone else and sent them?

I personally don't see a big problem with the brokering as long as he is providing a valuable service for the added cost, and looking out for his clients best interests.

here is the body of the email-- Polymethylmethacrylate
PMMA is a non-absorbable soft tissue filler that has been used for decades; the product was discovered in Germany in 1902 and was patented in 1928. Its first use in the medical field happened in 1936 when it was used for the manufacturing of dentures. After that, the product found an extensive number of medical indications like intra ocular lenses, pacemaker shields, bone prosthesis and much more. A special formulation that works as a glue has been used as bone cement.

If he's lied about working with Dan, then how do we know he isn't lying about complication rates? That's an excellent point, hoddle. If Dr. C/Wade lied/misinformed about working with Dan Salas then would they lie/misinform about complications rates? With all due respect to Dan, how much does he know about PMMA than say EP, bigbiz, EYC, and others on this site who got the procedure then shared their experience and knowledge with us and made suggestions for other guys on what to do/not do and communicated with Dr. C about adjusting the amount of PMMA to give the best results. I know that Dan Salas has helped some out there and is trying to make a living like the rest of us, but will Dan Salas' involvement with Dr. C lead to better or worse quality outcomes? In Dan's defense (you can check with 8ball on this one) but I think he got ripped off/cheated out of $/or other such machinations by Chad Hedman.

My opinion would be that Dr. C's work is the work of only Dr. C with the assistance of RN Wade. Dan is only there to assist the patient with travel, post op care and basically be a personal assistant to the patient. Most guys dont tell there girlfriends or family about their penis enlargement adventure, and they can use Dan as there agent, driver to Mexico, go get food and prescriptions, and accompany those that are not comfortable traveling alone to another country. So bottom line, nothing Dr. C does will ever be affected by Dan.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with him offering a surgical assistance service. It's a common thing and I know many plastic surgeons give their patients the option of paying extra for a pre and post op "carer". But Dan isn't really advertising his services in that way. The issue I and I think others have is that he's promoting the procedures themselves. People really value his opinion and invest a certain amount of trust in him. But his track record without doubt demonstrates that despite seemingly good intentions, he's continuously promoted Dr's and procedures with poor track records. If he worked in the more common way as a pre and post op "carer", as I've outlined above, then he can have a totally clear conscience as the patient has already decided to get the procedure independant of him and it was their decision to pay extra for his services. But at the moment he's promoting the procedures and Dr's themsleves and simply adding a commission on for his "services". With PMMA, is there really any need for post procedure assistance? It's not even a surgical procedure and so far everyone has remarked on how easy the whole experience is. It's an awkward situation as I know you and others are his friends and greatly respect him, so i don't want to be too critical and felt I have been previously. But, what he's doing just seems like a bit of a con really and if I'm honest i kind of wish his friend or past patients would just tell him stright that this is the case. Apparently there is already a shuttle service from the airport and Dr C provides the antibiotics. I suppose their is an argument he could provide and valid service for those having lengthening surgery, but should he be promoting a Dr Comacho given he has so little experience of his work? To be honest it's perhaps not my place to say if it's a con or not, as I haven't had the procedure, so it would be interesting for those who have to chime in. Maybe they'll say it would be a $1000 well spent. But for me the greater issue now isn't to with Dan, but that Dr C's office said they weren't working with him, yet it seems that they are. We are placing so much trust in the honesty and integrity of Dr C and his staff, as really none of the reports etc on here actually much of any use regarding the likelyhood of complications. The best we can go on is the word of the most experienced Dr's with use of New Plastic for volume filling, of which Dr C is one. But what use is his word if he can't be trusted?

Dr. Casavantes, Wade and the staff have so far demonstrated good service and good results. If they are dealing with Dan, to them it is a business decision and they may not see this issue the way some members see it on this site. He my actually be getting them customers that are not aware of this site nor are aware they can get the same service for less. Some time convenience has a price and some people will gladly pay for it.

That exactly right mustang, and Dr C even told Dan that the price stays at 1500 and not try to change, but Dan will charge his fee of a few hundred buck (I think) if you decide to want or need his service. Hoddle, I totally see your point, basically though, there have been virtually no good surgeons in PE thus far except for the new DR C and of course ALter, and a few Elist patients, but as far as Dan and his business, I think he was just providing what the people wanted. Like me, I have been butchered before without the help of Dan, and I still am seeking PE surgery, even with the same DR. Thats crazy right, but once we get something in our mind it is very hard for someone to change it . I just believe Dan is trying to do good, as well as make a living. Remember, Dan has been butchered just like the some of us here, and it is still a trial and error learning experience.

If there is any association between Dan & Dr. C, it would be an exchange of information (regarding PMMA care). Brokering and having customers pay more than the quoted office price has been flat out rejected by Dr. C & Wade. However I did not ask Wade or Dr. C about Dan's services as a post-op carer since, after all, it doesn't affect me or the legitimacy of the product. As long as Dan isn't making commission on his referrals and is sincerely "helping" patients, I could care less. But it does reek of opportunism. Reeks like hell. Especially since the post-op care with PMMA can be done by by anyone and post-op details can be learned from the same source Dan gets them from... Dr. C & this forum. I'm finding that post-op care consists of - Keep entry points clean and gauzed/bandaged until they are closed. You can shower and re-dress the entry points but avoid baths.
- Massage your shaft the way you were instructed to by the nurse at the Dr.'s office.
- Take your antibiotics as prescribed.
- Avoid sex or aggressive stimulation for at least 1 week.
All of the above can be learned at the appointment and is ALL you need for a satisfactory outcome. Granted, there are other finer details (i.e. stretching devices, etc) that could be utilized, but that's why free information can be found here. With other procedures I can understand, since they are surgical in nature. But Bioplasty's downtime can be handled by even the dumbest & faintest of hearts, why spend anymore than the office's price quote? Just my opinion.
