There is a product I just read about on the web call Cymetra. It is micronized alloderm and is injectable. Apparently it works similar to alloderm implants with ingrowth of cells etc. Anybody know if there are phalloplasty surgeons trying this?
If not I would love to suggest it to one or two

I dont know any Drs. that perform this. It appears that the only limitation may be cost. I think it is pretty $$$. But I wanted to start a discussion about this to see if anyone else knew anything or had found a Dr who performs this.

www.lifecell.com/cymetra-micronized-alloderm-tissue/Life cell is the company that makes alloderm. It looks as though currently cymetra is used for injections into the vocal cords and as a dermal filler. The length of retention is unknown, but basically it is alloderm and therefore can serve as a scaffold for fibroblast and cellular ingrowth... Apparently. Trying to find docs that may be trying it.

Very interesting! Still a foreign material but is consistent w/my personal belief that SO many more aesthetic procedure are going to be performed w/injectables and not scalpuls. Does the maker of Alloderm, Life Cell- make this?
If it is in fact alloderm, some of it will absorb, presumably smaller particles faster than larger sheets, but the less invasive approach makes it far more attractive an offer...just brain storming, one may be able to receive more treatments to achieve the desired result.
If this were ever done, would be interesting to see if the results would be similar, better, or not as good as the treated fft grafts, in terms of retention.
Even if comparable...less invasive and local anesthetics are the way to go providing the science is sound.

Sorry- just read previous thread stating Lifecell as manufacturer. Can't see why this can't be used in phalloplasty. Perhaps this should be brought to the attention of the doctors currently using alloderm for phalloplasty, since alloderm isn't approved for its use in phalloplasty, what's the difference...try the injectable!
I suspect patients treated w/the injectable form of alloderm will NOT experience, what many here have called retraction...(its actually a contraction of the graft as a result of in growth and partial absorption).

As I have a gap just below the glan I am looking for a filler. Dr Rosenthal told me that Cymerta might be an option. He will ask you to send him a pic and give you a price. He didn't answer my question as how Cymerta differs from FFT. Hope this helps

Again it appears to me that the limitation may be cost.
Does anyone know the typical volume (in cc) that is injected for fat injections or pmma? You may be able to extrapolate these numbers to determine the amount of cymetra that would be needed, and thus the cost For a single procedure as this stuff is apparently sold on a volume basis

Presumably it would need to be injected exactly where PMMA is injected, the buck's fascia, otherwise it would migrate.
You wouldn't need a surgeon, just a competent cosmetic doctor. Hopefully doctors start trying this as this could be as effective in girth as PMMA, more natural feeling and virtually without long-term risk. Very interesting.

I am curious about Cymertra as well. I haven't read enough on the mechanism through which it works though.

Why does the information in this link indicate Cymetra lasts temporarily? Is it because it used in the lips that it does not last permanently? Because it also indicates that it only comes in one formulation. beautysurge.com/learn/skin_cymetra.html
