HHhhhmmm.. OK I've been thinking lately. if atomic bombs could be made, prosthetic arms that can be controlled by the mind, a mans heart can be stopped to perform open heart surgery and brought back to life, also man can be sent to the moon and back. Why cant they come up with a solid procedure for penis enlargement. I mean COMMEE OONN!! I'm pretty sure if doctors stop dragging their tails and join forces, I'm pretty sure they can come up with something. yes it may take a few years but once they find a way it can be a huge breakthrough. I mean with all these websites on enlargement, these doctors are stupid not to. i believe if they come up with a safe procedure that can be just as common as a Brest augmentation they would make billions. And even help the economy in the process(with the taxes that would come from it). what are your thoughts on this.

Million dollar question...literally.
I believe "demand" does exist... if it didn't then spam for penis pills would not exist. I think a few factors seem to hinder phalloplastic advancements:
1. Acceptance in the broader medical community. Penis surgery for cosmetic reasons (not reconstructive) doesn't seem to be looked highly upon by many doctors.
2. The penis is complex. Not only is it complex, but repairing botched procedures are far more difficult than repairing other parts of the body. Its complexity makes it that much harder to develop the "right" method for safe & effective enlargement.
3. Lack of collaboration. It seems both ego and stubbornness prevents a better sharing of stats and techniques. I wouldn't be surprised that there is more exchanging of surgical PE information here on PhalloBoards than between dick surgeons.
4. Lack of Research & Development. Maybe there is some R&D underway, but I just don't understand why there isn't more R&D for something so potentially lucrative. Maybe the explanation is found at #5.
5. Taboo. Breast augmentation was once taboo but eventually became more accepted. Maybe in time (if & when techniques are improved and results are consistently positive) the taboo will fade...but the "taboo" nature of this procedure impedes its progress in my opinion.
some ideas... i think with the advent of stem cell technology and the constant innovating of current techniques, we will find that "Jackpot" method one day. Hopefully in our lifetimes. Hopefully in this new decade.

Let's get some perspective; a cure for cancers might be just a little more important.

Let's get some perspective; a cure for cancers might be just a little more important. Granted hsarge, but I don't believe anyone was implying that R&D for phalloplasty should take priority over cancer research. This is a forum devoted to the science and medicine of making one's penis bigger...that is where the perspective is.

Penis size is determined by a critical Androgen sensitive period, when the male fetus is developing w/in the mothers uterus. The amount of androgen hormone is believed to have a direct correlation to masculinization this include penis size, so its genetic to some degree. In cases of micro it is suspected that there is a hormonal deficiency during this critical time.
Interesting to note that medications engineered to treat certain disorders resulted (accidentally) in enlargement of the clitoiris in women. The clitoris is almost identical is structure and function to the male penis. These meds did NOT have the same affect when tried on men for the purpose of enlargement...(Just our luck)!
I believe (just my opinion) that pharmaceutical companies are hard at work to develop a medication to enlarge the penis. It is potentially a multi billion dollar industry.
If such a pill existed in many ways it would make life much easier. I think perspectives would be clearer from male and female points of view and then MAYBE men can be "judged" by other attributes such as, intelligence, sense of humor, kindness...what a concept!
I do believe the technology for penile transplants exists, but would you want to walk around w/ the penis of another man, more specifically one who has expired between your legs?
I think the REAL future is in tissue engineering....perhaps prfm is an infant stage of it?

There actually is a lot of work being done. One of the most interesting is Saphenous vein grafting for girth. It was being done in Italy and Egypt. Also Russians have grown a penis replacement on a persons forearm and transplanted it in place. I wish there would be a way to relax the tunica tissue so it could expand rather than do the grafting. But you ask why is it sooo hard. Well 99% of all medical advances in history have been done in the last 40 years.

It is surely something to ponder. Good luck to all the researchers.

Thanks for responding to my post all of you guys make a good point. "hsarge" made a good point that mostly all medical advances in history have been done in the last 40 years. so im thinking with breast aug being done since late 1800's, but first silocone successfully implanted about 1962. the type of rapid technology we have these days i think something thats at least 85% safe should be produced within a time frame of 15-20 years putting me at a age range of 38-43 years old, god will im still here.. meaning i'll be still young, hot and able to enjoy my new penis...lol (joking on the last part)
